Screening of M. Kvedaravičius’ film "Mariupol" in Budapest
On June 14th at MOM Cinema Center in Budapest Lithuanian Embassy together with the Ukrainian Embassy organized an event to show solidarity with Ukraine and to commemorate the Day of Mourning and Hope of Lithuania.
On this occasion the documentary "Mariupolis", created by Lithuanian director Mantas Kvedaravičius, was shown and an exhibition of photographs by Ukrainian authors showing the war scenes in Azovstal was exhibited. Among the participants of the event were the representatives of Hungarian authorities, media, members of diplomatic corps and Lithuanian and Ukrainian diasporas. The audience was addressed by the Ambassador of Lithuania Vytautas Pinkus and the Ambassador of Ukraine Liubov Nepop. Ambassador V.Pinkus told that June 14th in Lithuania is the day of commemoration of the victims of the tragic historical events that began in 1941 with the deportations of Lithuanians. This year Lithuanians, remembering the tragedy of their nation, stand in solidarity with the Ukrainians, who are fighting for their own freedom and the freedom of all of us. He noted the importance of not getting tired of the ongoing war and further supporting Ukraine, as well as not coming to terms with the aggression against it.
