EU for the Rule of Law in Serbia
On 20 December this year, a launch event for the project "EU Support to Serbia in the Rule of Law" took place in Belgrade, attended by Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, Minister of Justice Maja Popovic, heads of diplomatic missions and offices of the EU and its partner countries, international organisations and members of the project team.
The European Union has allocated €20.8 million to Serbia to support rule of law reforms. The programme covers topics such as the fight against corruption and organised crime, the improvement of fundamental rights, the strengthening of the technical capacity of chapters 23 and 24, and the independence of the judiciary.
The partners involved in the implementation of the four components of the EU programme to support the rule of law in Serbia are the following Member States: Germany, Austria, Lithuania, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain, as well as the Council of Europe, the OSCE and UNOPS.
