Commemoration of the 2nd anniversary of Russia's aggression against Ukraine and showing solidarity to Ukraine in Budapest Square

On February 24th  Heads of Foreign Missions  gathered at an event organised by the Mayor of Budapest Gergely Karacsony and the Embassy of Ukraine to commemorate the two-year anniversary of Russia's aggression against Ukraine and to express support for the embattled Ukraine and its people. An exhibition of photographs „Destruction, occupation, genocide: two years of Russia‘s bloody war against unbreakable Ukraine“  depicting the war in Ukraine was held in the town square to mark the occasion.

The Mayor began his speech by quoting Alexey Navalny's words : "We are telling the truth here" and his message - "Don't give up, never give up!". Expressing his strong support for Ukraine in the presence of its friends, G. Karacsony appealed to politicians and the government, who has lost its moral compass and its allies,   and called on to look directly into the eyes of the Ukrainian people in the photographs, because the war is not elsewhere but in the eyes, and to never give up in the battle between  good and evil, democracy and tyranny, courage and indifference.
